For the weekend - Louisville theatre shows and auditions (June 8 edition)

First of all, a personal note about the Alley Theater. I can personally say it was fun performing in a show (Suckers) there a few years ago. Plenty of people I still call friends were made from that show. Now, unfortunately, Alley Theater is closing its doors due to lack of funding. A locally grown and operated theatre company going dark after 25 years. Granted, they have two more shows this summer, but that's it after August 1. Alley Theater will be sorely missed.

Let this be a lesson to all of us...get out there and explore the local theatre scene!!!  There are plenty of opportunities to see wonderful theatre in and around town, every single weekend of the year. Heck, most days of the regular week, too. Virtually all of these shows are performed with local, incredibly talented actors that do this for the love of it. Support them, support local theatres, and be entertained while doing it.

This weekend, there are at least 11 shows taking place. Classic comedies, musicals, murder mysteries, Shakespeare, and even radio plays are happening. Click the links below to find a show near you.

Would you like to be one of the actors gracing a Louisville-area stage? Then, the time is right to get in an audition via one of the links below. Three of the auditions are happening within the next two weeks, so get prepared.

Last, but certainly not least, if your theatre group has a show coming up, let me know about it. Email me at loubriantheater@gmail.com. I will put it on this blog starting the weekend of its opening and keep it up all the way through the show's run. That's why this blog exists: to help inform the public about the Louisville theatre scene in an era where it receives less and less coverage from other media outlets.

Enjoy!
